Weekly Practice

PREPARE AND SHARE A MEAL

IN THE MIDST of busy and hectic schedules, many of us spend as little time preparing food as possible. We eat quickly and get on to whatever happens next. This week, practice meal preparation as a way to think about, care for, and have conversations with those nearest to us. Here are some ideas to help put this into practice:

  • If you live alone, invite a friend, neighbor, or family member to join you for a meal this week. If that’s not possible, prepare a meal and bring it to someone.
  • If you do not usually do the cooking in your family, offer to cook one night or pack lunch(es) for your family members.
  • For families, choose at least one night this week to sit down to a meal together. Engage all family members in preparation: making the food, setting the table, getting drinks, maybe even lighting candles on the table.

During your preparation, think about the ways God has prepared his good gifts for us. Ask the Lord what it might mean for you to prepare the way for him.

Have a blessed week!
