OUR CULTURE PLACES a high value on being right, and we all go to great lengths to prove to others that we are right. This week, in an effort to remember that knowledge is not the greatest virtue in God’s kingdom, practice giving up your need to be right. Unless doing so would cause harm to you or someone else, let the other person have the last word when you are contradicted. Whenever the issue at hand is none other than your own desire to be right, let the argument go. If a situation really does require that you bring correction, do so with gentleness, respect, and discretion.
