Sermon Title: “Loving Enemies and Following Jesus”
Weekly Practice
SEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY: Praying for a Competitor
Scripture: Luke 6:27-38
MOST OF US would be hesitant to name anyone as our enemy. We know better than that. This week, practice praying for those you find yourself at odds with or recognize as competitors. At the beginning of the week, take some time to think of persons who make life difficult for you. It may be an estranged family member, a coworker, or an employee of a competing company. Post a list of these names somewhere you will see often, and pray for them each time you see it. You are not praying that these people will change. Instead, practice loving them by praying that God shines his full goodness, mercy, love, and joy on them. Remember that each of these individuals is dearly loved by God, just as you are. Pray that they would know this truth.
Have a blessed week!
